“Mt. Hope Chapel”

             Since the early 1970s, St. John has assumed control of Mt. Hope Chapel and the perpetual care cemetery located directly behind the chapel building.  Mt. Hope’s historical lineage is similar to that of St. John.  In the early 20th century, Mt. Hope was a congregation of the German Evangelical Synod of North America.  The chapel finally had to close its doors and cease regular operations.

             Currently the chapel is used for Easter Sunrise services, and the occasional wedding and funeral.  It is located just outside of St. Clair on highway 47, in the area known as “Mt. Hope.”
